I've finally got round to looking into buying a shiny SLR camera. I'm thinking about the Canon EOS 450D. It's within my price range and seems like a good starting point. I've had Canon cameras in the past so know the buttons and all that jazz, just need to teach myself the fancy stuff...
Is this a good choice to those camera buffs out there??
I've just set up a new car insurance policy with Swift cover. I called my previous insurer (Norwich Union) to let them know that I won't be renewing with them.
The guy on the phone tried to hint at the fact that Swift aren't so good but the paper work all seems to be ok - granted I haven't read ALL of it... Anyone heard anything bad about Swift?? The guy's got me nervous now!

Work is going well, have been at Blackwell Publishing (now Wiley-Blackwell due to a merge) for over a year and am really enjoying it. Wil now works there too m=which makes commuting from Bicester to Oxford all the more easier. Have just heard that I am to get a pay rise due to the merge which is all very nice!

ooh ohh, came across this site where you get paid to complete surveys. They send you a cheque for £50 once you've filled in that number of surveys. Each one usually takes about 5 or 10 mins to complete so is pretty easy money! sign up!
Just got back from a weekend in Snowdon. Wad loads of fun with many many stunning views. Couldnt quite make it to the summit, but views were still fab....

-This week at work has been great - had loads to do and managed to get through it all without anythng going wrong (I hope not anyway!) I usually assist Rod on the two journals but he's been on holiday this week so he left me to do everything that he usaully does plus my usual work, therefore this week I didnt send as many emails pestering people due to my boredom or surfing the tinternet as much!
-Start the job as Assistant Production Editor (as apposed to my temp position) on MOnday in the Medical/Special Profects division. Should be really iinteresting and more of a challenge. More like the work I've been doing this week so I've kind of got a bit of a head start with the training!
-My parents are selling the house in Kent and are moving to North West London. They're downsizing and want to be closer to Baker Street where my dad works. Quite exciting as I love house hunting, but a little sad to see the old house go. Lived there on and off for 15 years. :(
-Going to Glasgow in a couple of weeks which I am sooo excited about! Not exactly Egypt which is where we wanted to go on holiday but thought we'd save teh pennies and stay with family in Glasgow instead. Haven't been for about 5 years so really looking forward to it. Also just found out one of my aunts is pregnant. Another little cousin for me!
-Have been watching lots of Spaced reccently and have decided that I love Simon Pegg (he's a blond/ginger version of Wil for sure!) and can't wait to see his new film. :)
-Just got off the phone from Nin. Her and Caroline are off to Hong Kong to teach out there for a minimum of 9 months! How exciting.
Nothing else has been happening really. Got a few gigs coming up... The Cooper Temple Clause, Supergrass, Get cape. Wear cape. Fly, MUSE (yay!)...
Have a load of things that we're going to put up for sale either on one of the communities of ebay/amazon - it's mostly books so if you're after anything keep an eye out!

PS - I REALLY want to see this film: http://www.nicebombs.com/. The guy who made it, Usama, used to live in Abu Dahbi when we did and I apparently was friends with his sisters. I remember going to his brother's birthday party when I was about 8 but don;t remember him as he's a few years older than me. My dad is still in touch with his dad who can be seen in the film trailer. Unfortuunatley it's only being shown in underground film festicals in the US so I haev no idea how to get a hold of it here. I'll haev to wait for the DVD, if it's released, I guess.
...I feel like I'm going to pop. Just had a mega huge barbecue. Mum and dad came up to visit yesterday and have just left. Dad made lots of yumminess on the BBQ. Was really good having them up to stay in our grown up house :) We went to a car boot fair today (cos my dad loves them) and now Wil is hooked and wants us to take loads of stuff down next week to sell. I could really do with a loooong snooze now.
Tomorrow morning I have an interview for another position at Blackwells. This one will be properly permanent (where as the current one is temp until September and I can stay on after, but probably for the same amount of money). The one I've applied for is a step or two above what I'm doing now so should HOPEFULLY be more money as well as more responsibility which I am all for. I hate interviews so am completely crapping myself but luckily it is first thing tomorrow so I get it over and done with. The position is in the Medical journals department meaning I haev to deal with lots of gorey pictures - some interesting, but other I'm not so looking forward to looking at! I've already had some work to do on the medicla dept and the pics were not pretty!
It's Wil's birtdhay on Wednesday so have booked him a surprise for next weekend. Shant say what just yet. We're being kids and goign to play lazerquest on Wednesday with a bunch of people. Should be funny.
I am so tired, I'm going to go collapse on teh sofa whilst Wil plays Final Fantasy with his online geek friends :) hehe.
Have been away from LJ land for yonks due to the stress of moving. We are now fully moved in and handed the keys back to the flat yesterday so can finish worrying about getting it clean and just hang on for the deposit.
New house in great. :) Loving it. Have painted walls that needed painted and put shelves up etc etc... just some bits of glosswork to be done now really. Am currently uplaoding shitty quality camera phone pics for you to see if you're interested. See under cute for huge pics...

We're having a house warming BBQ tomorrow which I'm looking forward to lots. I love showing the house off to guests. :) Even if the majority of them will be boys who don't really care all that much, expecially oif there's a barbecue to distract them!
Woke up with a beast of a headache today. Got a job offer for a traqinee manger position which I was mega excited about initially but after thinking about it more I've realised that I dont want to work the really unsociable hours that they wanted me to do. I'd basically haev no life! I'd either be working the evenings or be in bed early cos the day shift starts at 7:30! So have rejected it and have accepted a job at Blackwells publishers. Also heard bak from anotehr job where I had an interview the other week asking me back for a second interview. Only thing was that one was tempporary, even though the job did sound interesting, I think it would be a lot of stress as I'd be one of a team of three and the other two spend most of the time travelling so I'd be on my own in that department.
So, basically I've accepted the Blackwells position which will be general office based stuff but I'll be able to moved into Marketing if a position comes up at the right time. Pay isn't wonderful but is more than what I've been getting for the past month or so! Hopefully I'll finally work my way out of my overdraft sometime soon!
Wil was in Newbury today for an interview for the fast track management position at HMV. He said it went well but he was the only one there applying for the first time - the others had all applied before. not sure if that's a good thing or not, but he'll hear back next week.
New Lost is aired in teh US tonight which means new lost for us tomorrow!! Can't wait. It's gonna be a great finale. So excited! :) :) :) :)

- Doesn't look like I got the job I wanted, havent heard anything and the interview was last Tuesday. Don't you hate it when you don't even get a nice letter sayign thanks but no thanks?! - Had another interview yesterday for another great job but I was the first of many to be interviewed. Shall hear back next week. - Housey stuff: Contracts have been exchanged and we have a move date of the 16th June. yippeeee. :) Need to start packing soon.... - I seriously need money.
Am currently swattin gup for an interview which I have tomorrow for a position that I really really want. I dont want to go on about it too much incase I jinx myself somehow and don't get it. Which I bet I wont cos I'm gonna get way too nervous. :-/ Anyone want to offer me up some interview questions with great answers. I've got loads already from various websites but the more the merrier!
London on Saturday night was good. A shame that more people didnt turn up though.
